v59 Hypermarketing class>>> as an old fashion, I get logged behind being digitized. I seldom follow new technology or popular apps. Sometimes I think catching up with technology is a waste of money. Gadgets gets old in an instant which makes you want to upgrade on these things. Though I know the Web made life easier for all of us, everything is just one click away..but its too fast you dont get to enjoy the contents and savor it, too fast things happen without you noticing it, too fast for someone getting old and dont want time to fly fast. Though in some cases I appreciate it, without skype or facebook my husband wont be able to witness our daughter grow though he is away from us. The Web or digital technologies links us together. For that Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDigital world is a complex and dynamic world. Because of its complexity a lot of people would hesitate engaging in it. Personally the digital world had provided me benefits and some inconvenience. It helped me in my research both for my work and personal needs, it helped re-connect with people and provided different venues to express my thoughts and feelings....
ReplyDeleteOur digital world makes our world smaller & more engaging. It is a resource that we should maximize responsibly. I have personally benefited from the digital advancement we are experiencing now such that I can communicate with my loved ones and friends more frequently at a manageable cost and get things done & organized in a few clicks.
ReplyDeleteIt also made me more vigilant with my environment and to take a more pro-active stance on certain situations because of the information available. However, I have witnessed how our digital advancement can ruin one’s reputation in a few minutes. Thus, I believe we should be responsible in maximizing the digital resources available for us and not let the digital advancement control us.
Web 2.0 is indeed changing the world in terms of effective communication and information. I can still remember doing a snail mail getting in touch with my relatives abroad. There are regular and special delivery depending on how much is your budget and how early you want your mail to be received. But today, the Web makes it easier and faster. There are tons of social media out there like facebook and twitter that could relay your information in just one click! This technology is developing continuously to make our life better and easier. At least in my case for doing my work in getting all the information that I need to get the job done. Being on-line is being dynamic. We can even be rich in matter of seconds. Nice!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the Information/Electronic Age,that is, everything is digital. The food you eat, the message you convey, the clothing you wear, the courses you take, the work you are doing, the lifestyle you live are all online. Well, this world makes my personal life and work easier, faster, reliable, and exciting. The social networking sites and video conferences enable me to connect with friends and relatives all over the world in an instant. Ready and fresh news and information helped me in my researches. However, the sense of responsibility should still be there, thinking before clicking and sharing. This web based resources should be used with a good purpose rather than destroying others. At the end of the day, everyone will be benefited.
ReplyDeleteThe digital world contributed in the quick advancement in business as well as personal relationships. Communication became more efficient and this leads to improvements in business processes. Personally, I have befitted in the technological advancements today. But the negative effect are also highly evident, not only with the young generation but as well as to most people who do not seem to have any filter on how they use social media. Whose role is it then to protect the young generation against the negative effects of the digital world of today? Or is it enough that it is our own responsibility?
ReplyDeleteCope up or be left out! Govern wisely and correctly or be ruined!
ReplyDeleteClassmates, I agree with your posts, and like you, I have personally enjoyed the advantages of technology like simultaneously meeting people in different continents via Virtual Room meetings, witnessed Halo video conferencing, remotely controlled servers across countries, etc; but, at the same time, had seen clients' businesses lose billions due engineers pressing the wrong button, which rendered offices nonoperational for a week or so, that caused severe damages.
Indeed, it's a fast paced world out there, and we need to adapt fast, and manage wisely. As managers, we hold the key to the continuum: to influence, provide proper education or training, create solution fixes, etc. Success is within our grasp, and power is within our palms - and as fast as IT, we need to act fast.
Btw, soon before know it - it's going to be Web 3.0 (3Ds, holograms..) made available to the public!
The urge to change and improve makes the world better and truly the Digital World had provided all the Benefits from the fields of Education to Medicine moving to Communication and Transportation etc.. across all the Industries Worldwide.
ReplyDeleteWe have been really dependent on the Technology now a days and the technology or knowledge you have about it determines how far you will go both professional and personal life.
Many of us might not probably realize it but we are already using digitalize technologies on our home, office, cars or even the streets we pass everyday that transformed the daily aspect of our lives as we live it now.
Web 2.0 Amazing and I think there is more to come.
To be part of the IT field I believe I have used and abused the Internet. It has undoubtedly helped me get through this changing world, provided opportunities beyond imagination. Gone are the days where you have to go out in the sun to look for a job. When you have to go through a huge compilation of encyclopedias to get the definition of words. Social networking for example created a new generation; truly, it has re-engineered the lives of individuals around the world, but have we misused this digitized world?
ReplyDeleteThe web is a good if not the greatest innovation made available to man, the video no doubt tells us that, but it has provided us more thought provoking ideas. It has challenged us to re-think copyright, authorship, identity, ethics, privacy and family to name a few, issues that are present in this troubling times of social media and the cloud.
We are the web. This video reiterates that we created this technology; we can download and upload anything from and to the web. Anything that we own. In the recent years, social networking has raised concerns over their clause that they own anything you put up in their network, have we totally succumbed then to the death of copyrighting? Plagiarism. Have we accepted that anything in the Internet is not owned by anybody but the web?
What about social interaction? What about becoming an inspiration because people saw it, not because you wrote about it in your blog?
To not be a part of this digital world is unacceptable, they’re maybe some truth to that. However, I strongly believe that there is more in the digital world than just being a part of it.
